Radwan handed himself in to the security forces to benefit from the amnesty announced by the Interior Ministry to those who participated in unlawful acts if they give themselves up to police.
Radwan was born in Zamalka, Damascus Countryside in 1983.
Radwan told the TV that he had been arrested for several crimes and served a ten-year sentence in Adra prison. "Even after I was released, I faced several arrest warrants," he added.
"When demonstrations started, I participated in the protests along with scores of people who came from Duma, Irbeen and Harasta. We committed vandalism and riot acts," he added.
"Me and 'Ali Haidar' opened fire from a motorcycle on a citizen called 'Hamdo Zgheib' because he was a pro-government supporter," said Radwan, adding that his friends Talal Kawkash and Mohammad Dlalo, and other persons were using a car to cruise the districts and open fire in air to terrorize the citizens and force them to go out with us."
"Afterwards, we took motorcycles and went to Ali Haidar's farm where we planned for other acts of vandalism for the coming demonstrations. We set fire to Hamdo's store on that day," he said.
"All of us were ex-offenders convicted of different crimes related to drugs, robbery and plundering," he admitted.
"I came and turned myself in and handed over my weapons to the security forces when the Interior Ministry announced that those who turn themselves in within the period it had set will be exempted from punishment," said Radwan, adding that he did so upon the appeal of his family who told him that he was following the wrong path.
The Interior Ministry had reiterated in a statement issued earlier calls for those who were misled into participating in or committing unlawful acts punishable by law including carrying weapons, disrupting security or giving false statements to turn themselves in and hand over their weapons and inform the authorities about saboteurs and terrorists and the whereabouts of weapons.
So far, the number of those who turned themselves in reached 6131 persons from different Syrian provinces, who were immediately released after pledging not to repeat acts that may harm the security of the citizens and the homeland.
